Angle Psy’s Engaged Artistic Projects

Through our projects, we work to raise awareness and create spaces for dialogue around mental health issues while upholding our collective responsibility to support local artists.

Let’s act for youth mental health

Art as a Response to Social Upheaval

In a context of social and cultural upheaval, we believe it isessential to amplify local voices, nurture their creativity, and support them throughout their journey.

Having been hard-hit by the pandemic, the cultural sector inspired Roxanne Lacasse to come up with a brilliant idea: as part of interviews with emerging artists from La Révolution des Tomates, she provided them with a platform to share their creative process while addressing issues related to mental health.

For our first Ciné-Partage, more than twenty people participated in an educational experience combining socially engaged art and guided discussions. It was a rewarding activity where participants opened up and addressed sensitive topics close to their hearts. Being able to express their own realities allowed everyone to better understand each other’s perspectives, fostering empathy and genuine exchange.

  • 👉 Recognizing art as a tool for education, social transformation, and personal healing
  • 👉 Providing professional opportunities for young artists from diverse backgrounds
  • 👉 Building bridges between community, cultural, and educational sectors

Our Artistic Projects

Feminist Documentary

Produced in partnership with Laurence Ducharme, a medical PhD student and psychiatry trainee, this engaged documentary focuses on the stigmas experienced by women in psychiatric care. Through moving and authentic testimonies, the film highlights systemic injustices.

Partners: We are fortunate to collaborate with committed volunteer filmmakers. Thanks to BIEC, we were able to produce a teaser, and the Social Economy Hub granted us a scholarship to support the project’s development.

Diffraction dans le brouillard

Diffraction

A performance inspired by a personally experienced injustice. Presented in unconventional venues across Montreal as a mobile cabaret, this project provided a space for free and cathartic creative expression.

Partners: This project was made possible thanks to the valuable support of emerging artists and dedicated mentor-professors from the Theatre program at Université Laval, whose guidance and advice greatly contributed to its realization.

La Révolution des Tomates

This multidisciplinary performance brings together emerging artists around a shared goal: creating an act inspired by a personally experienced injustice. Presented in unconventional venues across Montreal.

Partners: This project was made possible thanks to the invaluable support of emerging artists and the dedicated mentor-professors from the Université Laval theatre program, whose guidance and advice were instrumental in bringing it to fruition.

Partners: This project was supported by Kino Montréal and  Studio Grandéwhich provided a space for the project’s production, access to professional equipment, and the opportunity to showcase it at a public event.
